How do I get a 1098 for a home mortgage?
The organization or person you are paying your mortgage to is supposed to send you the 1098 form with the amount of mortgage interest paid for the year. You should receive this by mid-February at the latest. If you do not receive it, contact the mortgage holder and ask them to send it. They are required to issue this form in a timely manner.
